Joan Boutilier is an experienced music teacher with a degree in Music Education from the University of New Mexico. She has been a member of Sweet Adelines International since 1989 and the front-line director of the Choral-Aires since 1996. At the 1997 Region 3 competition, Joan earned the title of Master Director. Since then, she's taken the Choral-Aires Chorus to five International competitions, placing in the top 10 each time.
She is also an active quartet and chorus coach, sharing her skills and love of four-part harmony with other singers. Joan is an "Approved Candidate Judge" in the Sweet Adelines International Judging program in the Sound Category. She is also a member of the internationally appointed committee, the Director Education Coordinators (DEC).
Joan sings tenor with the quartet, "Four Betty's," which won first place at the SAI competition in Calgary, Canada in October of 2007. The Four Betty's are the 2008 International Quartet Champions of Sweet Adelines International!
Joan's love of four-part harmony shines when directing this dynamic and entertaining chorus.
